The first thing that would change would be the tides in our oceans. The Moon's gravity pulls on Earth's water, creating high tides and low tides twice each day. "If the Moon were closer, its gravitational pull would be much stronger," Dr. Martinez said, drawing a diagram. "The tides could be enormous – possibly hundreds of meters high instead of just a few meters!" Sam imagined massive waves sweeping across coastlines.
