Rama Builds the Bridge to Lanka
Long ago in ancient India, Prince Rama faced his greatest challenge. The demon king Ravana had kidnapped Rama's beloved wife Sita and taken her across the ocean to the island kingdom of Lanka, which seemed impossible to reach.
Rama stood on the southern shore with his loyal brother Lakshmana, gazing at the vast ocean stretching endlessly before them. The waves crashed against the rocks, and the distance to Lanka seemed overwhelming. How could they possibly cross such a mighty ocean without ships?
Fortunately, Rama had powerful allies—the Vanaras, an intelligent race of monkey-like beings who possessed great strength and courage. King Sugriva and the mighty Hanuman had already pledged their vast army to help rescue Sita. Millions of Vanaras gathered on the beach, ready to serve their prince.
Rama knew they needed to build a bridge, but how could anyone construct a pathway across the ocean? The water was deep, the waves were strong, and Lanka lay nearly one hundred miles away. It seemed like an impossible task, even for the bravest warriors.
Then stepped forward Nala, the son of Vishwakarma, the divine architect of the gods. Nala possessed special knowledge passed down from his father—he understood how to work with materials in miraculous ways. "We can build this bridge," Nala announced confidently, "but we will need every helping hand."
The construction began immediately, and it was a sight to behold! Thousands of Vanaras worked together with incredible teamwork and determination. Some uprooted enormous trees from the forests, their muscles straining as they carried the heavy trunks to the shore.
As the bridge grew longer each day, something wonderful happened. A tiny squirrel noticed all the great work being done and wanted to help too. The little creature felt sad that it couldn't carry heavy rocks like the mighty Vanaras.
Finally, the bridge was complete! Rama and Lakshmana crossed first, followed by the entire Vanara army—millions of warriors marching across the ocean on the incredible structure. The bridge held firm, carrying them safely to Lanka where they would face Ravana in the great battle to rescue Sita.
