Camels of the Desert

Her body has special adaptations that allow her to tolerate losing up to 25% of her body weight through water loss, whereas most mammals would die after losing just 15%.
Dr. Hassan points out Sahara's thick, leathery lips and mouth, which are tough enough to eat thorny desert plants that other animals cannot touch. These prickly plants contain precious moisture, providing both food and water.
